FAQs
Why don’t the six holes in the Air Dome match up directly to my piano hinge holes in the LP tank cover?
In stocking materials to build Airstreams, Jackson Center ordered 6-foot lengths of piano hinges pre-drilled with rivet holes. These weren’t spaced to match every cover. So hole locations vary. Use the new Air Dome holes as guides to drill new ones.
I have 40 lb LP tanks. Will your Air Dome work with my LP tank cover?
No, the Air Dome is only designed for 20 and 30 lb LP tank covers. The 40 lb ones are too tall for storage space inside.
Will the extra 4” higher lid interfere with my front window or awning operation?
No, the Air Dome was designed with front window and awning clearance in mind.
Why do I have 8 rivets and 8 binder pins in my box with just six holes to fill?
You get two extras of each fastener type—just in case you need spares during installation.
Why did you supply both rivets and binder pins in my hardware?
Some prefer rivets, others don’t. Binder pins can be easier to use and act like a screw-washer-nut combo. Or, a dealer can rivet it for you.
Can I do this by myself and can I leave the LP cover on the trailer during installation?
Yes, mostly. You’ll need help holding the Air Dome during drilling/securing. You can install it with the LP cover still on the trailer or take it off.
I have a metal latch, not a rubber T-latch. Can I use your Air Dome?
Yes. If you need a rubber latch, buy one from Airboardshop.com or Airstream. It installs with two screws and matches up with pre-drilled holes.
Can I install your Air Dome without the Airboard?
Technically yes, but the Airboard creates the usable storage space. We recommend using it.
What do I do with the LP tank cover’s lid I just replaced?
Store it for backup or recycle it. Contact our office for a recycling return label and receive a gift card.
When can I expect you to ship my order?
Orders ship within 2–4 business days.
